Description
In the fables of Aesop, to illustrate the precept that ‘A kindness is never wasted’, a mouse, after having been treated kindly by a lion, returns when the lion is entrapped and helpfully gnaws through the ropes. Commissioned for Melbourne businessman, art collector and philanthropist John Gandel, ‘Leo’ captures the regal bearing, the air of authority, the strength, courage and inherent generosity of the lion.
