Description
Intriguing to the intellect and yet immediately graspable in its visual form, ‘Ascent’ spirals in a rapture of rising elation, culminating in a form that embodies both lightness and interdependent connections. Drawing inspiration from Gaston Bachelard’s ‘Poetics of Space’, where he describes certain natural forms as ‘privileged forms’, ‘Ascent’ manifests as Stuart’s own creation of such a form, one that invokes a sense of swift movement towards liberation. Stuart notes, ‘Like a bird poising for the sky, this sculpture embodies the act of taking flight, aiming to elevate and rejuvenate the spirit.
