Description
The palm of a hand is a symbol of honesty, while the back of a hand is suggestive of concealment. In ‘Sculpture of the Artist as a Hand’ a united albeit overwhelmed exterior conceals a complex and secret interiority, where notions of truth, worth and fair play are both championed and undermined, and personal memories, repetitive dialogues, low ancestral voices, persistent insecurities and unacknowledged fears all have a part to play.
