Description
In ‘Sun Rise’ an iris-like orb is held within a gleaming bow of stainless steel, and offset within the iris is an aperture that resembles a pupil. The semitransparent resinous disc at once captures, alters and projects received light. This optical instrument may well have been stolen from Poseidon himself, for it glows with the calming sea-green hues of a marine herbal, and according to Klee’s philosophy of colour, the human eye rests in green.
